The Collaborative Inc. is a 50-person multi-disciplined practice including architecture, landscape architecture, planning, interior design and graphic design headquartered in downtown Toledo, Ohio.
Communiprov was asked to deliver talks on oral presentation skills and on the steps to more effective Power Point presentations. These talks were followed by six small group sessions in which the participants delivered a prepared presentation which was videotaped for later review.
At the conclusion of each presentation, the facilitator provided feedback to the participant. Once all the members of the small group had presented, each participants' taped presentation was reviewed. In this way, each participant got the opportunity to see him/herself as an audience would. Each speaker was asked to comment on the individual presentation and comments were welcomed from the other members of the small group.
This "master class" approach is a very effective way to coach as it allows each person to see others present and to hear the comments from the facilitator. In this way, each presenter is able to apply concepts, ideas and corrections presented by the facilitator to their particular speaking style.
