Film Projects
Tom Hofbauer is an award-winning independent filmmaker with several completed projects and another one in the plannning stages.

His first produced project, Around the Bend TV, was a sketch comedy pilot in the style of Kids in the Hall, SCTV, and Monty Python's Flying Circus. It was written over a period of several years by a team of Toledo-based comedians including Tom, Mark Zink, Dave Zink, Mark England and Jeff Nease.

It was shot in the summer of 1998 and had its first screening at Photoworks, the downtown photography studio of Bruce Works.

You can see some sketches from this effort by logging onto www.AroundTheBendPlayers.com and clicking on the video clips tab.

His second project is a feature film called In the Company of Strangers. It was produced in 2001 and had its first screening at the Valentine Theatre in downtown Toledo. The black tie event raised more than $20,000 for David's House, an AIDS outreach center in Toledo where much of the action of the film was shot. Strangers went on to win several festival awards including the Director's Choice - Gold Medal for Excellence at the Park City Film Music Festival in Park City, Utah in January of 2005.

The film will be screened on January 16, 2009 at 4:30 p.m. as part of the Trail Dance Film Festival in Duncan, OK. Check out www.traildancefilmfestival.com for more information.

In 2003, Tom was contacted by Kirby Dick and Eddie Schmidt, LA-based filmmakers who were working on a documentary about the pedophilia crisis in the Catholic Church in Toledo. Tom got on board as a camera operator and also did location production for the team. Twist of Faith premiered at Sundance in 2005 and went on to be nominated for an Academy Award the same year.

Tom is currently in the planning stages of his next film, a documentary that looks at a seldom seen aspect of law enforcement.
